Paul Dlabal MDCardiovascular Research Associates, PA, was founded in 2003 by Paul W. Dlabal, MD, FACP, FACC, FAHA. Dr. Dlabal focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating adult cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Dlabal attended medical school at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Cardiology at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

Dr. Dlabal is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Cardiovascular Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Based upon his education, training, and experience, and his teaching and contribution to the field of medicine through independent research, presentations, and publications, Dr. Dlabal has been awarded the following:

  • Fellowship in the American College of Physicians
  • Fellowship in the American College of Cardiology
  • Fellowship in the American Heart Association, serving on the Council on Clinical Cardiology and the Council on Cardiovascular Imaging.

Providing care in the Austin area since 1984, Dr. Dlabal served as founder, president, and CEO of Texas Cardiovascular Consultants and founder, president, and manager of the Center for Cardiac Rehabilitation. In 2013, he was selected as one of Austin’s Top Doctors by Austin Monthly magazine.

Dr. Dlabal’s academic positions have included Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco, the University of California, Davis, Tulane University, and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He has also served as the principal investigator in numerous clinical studies on hypertension and anti-platelet therapy. In addition, he coordinated the U.S. clinical trials of the On-X Heart Valve, leading to FDA approval of the device.
